• You can start your walk from the Corniche, the seaside boulevard of modern Luxor to see the magnificent temple of Luxor, a work dating back to the 14th century BC, which was dedicated to Amun.
• Visit Karnak, the most important place of worship in ancient Egypt. This is a huge complex of temples, courtyards, ponds, obelisks and giant statues. What is breathtaking here is the temple of Amun Ra with its Great Hypostyle Hall, captured on many photographs, a forest of colossal pillars covering an area of 5,500 sq.m.
• Do not miss the famous Valley of the Kings, the necropolis of great Pharaohs and officials of Ancient Egypt. In this area archaeologists managed to dig out 65 tombs and mausoleums with incredible treasures. Entry is allowed only to three tombs, but do not miss to get a closer look at the famous tomb of Tutankhamun, the first royal tomb that was discovered unlooted.
• Take a visit to the Valley of the Queens. There you can marvel the “picture-perfect” tomb of Queen Nefertari with amazing frescoes, dazzling colours, which have been preserved intact.
• On the western bank there are two imposing tomb monuments, the Medinet Habu of Ramses III and the tomb complex of Deir el-Bahari with the temple of Hatshepsut standing out.
• Although smaller compared with that of Cairo, the Museum of Luxor features an excellent collection of artefacts. The 26 statues discovered in 1989 in the temple of Luxor, the complex of Amenhotep with the crocodile god Sobek and the two royal mummies of Achmose and Ramses I are exceptional.
