Herrenhausen Garten: Its abundant nature is an integral part of Hannover's scenery. One of the benchmarks of this green city are the Royal Gardens of Herrenhausen, an exquisite example of 17th century baroque gardening. They were modelled according to the gardens of Versailles designs and comprise of two individual garden complexes, the English Grosser Garden and the Botanical Berggarten.

Altes Rathaus: One of the oldest buildings in Hannover, the medieval Old City Hall, was built over a century, starting in 1410. In 1844, a citizens movement guided by architect Conrad Wilhelm Hase managed to prevent the plans for its demolition and restored it to its original form. Admire the magnificent Gothic pediments with the ornamental frieze with the portraits of princes and coats of arms.

Marktkirche: The oldest church in Hannover was built with bricks in the 14th century and is an excellent example of North-German Gothic architecture. Its impressive interior was destroyed during WWII and restored in the 1950s.

Neues Rathaus: Built in 1913, by the calm waters of lake Maschsee, the majestic New City Hall is an excellent example of old Hannover eclectic architecture from the time of Wilhelm II. A lift will take you to the top of the green dome, where you can enjoy a panorama of Maschpark park and the city.

Historisches Museum Hanover: The History Museum of Hannover records the history of the city from its establishment (1100) to this day, as well as the general history of Lower Saxony. Part of it is dedicated to the local folklore and traditions.

Sprengel Museum Hannover: Impressive in both size and design, the modern art museum of Hannover has a rich collection of 20th century works of art, from painting and abstract art to conceptual art. Among others, you will admire works by Chagall, Picasso, Andy Warhol, Paul Klee, Max Ernst, Niki de Saint-Phalle and by Kurt Schwitter, one of the famous personalities of the city.

Maschsee: The huge artificial lake of Maschsee in the heart of the city was designed in the 1930s and has been a favourite place for recreation for locals and visitors alike, ever since.
